PHotoEspaña

The route of photography. 3 days of visual arts in Madrid.

With the summer comes one of the main photography festivals worldwide; PHotoEspaña, a visual, artistic and photographic encounter that opened its doors on June 5 with more than 85 exhibitions, works by 296 artists and almost 80 venues throughout the city.

The summer agenda is getting more and more attractive and PHotoEspaña is announced as one of the most interesting panoramas for these hot months. The International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, which began in 1998 and over time has become an unmissable event for visitors to the Spanish capital, will run until September 1.

Exhibitions in different museums, galleries and art galleries, as well as various activities around the "Déjà vu", seeking to deconstruct photography, offering the possibility to learn about the latest trends and projects of major photographic artists worldwide.

At Único Madrid we have made a selection of interesting exhibitions near the hotel to visit and enjoy this new edition of the event.

The first of them is located at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, a few steps away from The Principal Madrid Hotel, on the other side of Gran Vía, where you can find the commemoration of the centenary of the beginning of Spanish commercial air transport through “Fly! 100 years in the sky”, an exhibition of historical photographs presented by the Ministry of Public Works through the ENAIRE Foundation. In the Picasso Room of the same venue, you can also visit the exhibition "Vanguard and Propaganda. Russian books and magazines in the Lafuente Archive 1913 - 1941", being the second part of the exhibition The Soviet Century, which was held in the same hall the previous year. Don't miss the opportunity to visit another of the city's main terraces.

In Sala Alcalá 31, Comunidad de Madrid, there is a monographic exhibition on Darío Villalba, which brings together for the first time almost all the most important works of the artist, who sought to reflect the unnamable in the space of madness and marginalization.

One of the must-sees is at the Espacio Fundación Telefónica, where the celebration of the 90th anniversary of William Klein, who dedicated one of the most outstanding works of the 20th century, marked by his clear and imposing vision of the core of modern society, Manifesto, is presented.

There are many places and diverse spaces granted by this tremendous festival, which transforms Madrid into the world capital of photography and visual arts. Come and enjoy a different, interesting and ideal attraction for this summer.
